o       Limited intermittent nursing services (not to exceed 120 days in a 12-month period)

o       Supervision of special diets

o       Application of dressings

o       Medication administration

·        Third-party services

o       Skilled nursing services may be provided by a certified home health agency or a licensed hospice agency

 

Who can be admitted?

·        Needs that can be met by the facility

 

Who is inappropriate?

·        Need for continuous nursing care that exceeds care provided by facility

·        Any needs the facility cannot meet

 

What training is required for direct care staff?

·        First aid

 

Is nurse staffing required?

·        A nurse must coordinate the overall nursing care of each resident who receives applications of dressings

·        Only a nurse (or physician) is permitted to administer medication
